Pandan Indah is a major township situated in between Ampang proper and Cheras. A township of mixed development, it carries mixed projects such as condominiums, service apartments, apartment duplex, double-storey terrace houses and retail lots from different developers.

Being a large area, some of the houses in Pandan Indah are built on freehold land while others are built on leasehold land. Whilst it is a matured area, it is still seeing a fair amount of new properties being developed. Though Pandan Indah will not be categorized as a black area or anything near that status, some break-in and snatch theft cases do happen every now and then to careless residents. This has led to several communities hiring security guards and reminding their residents to be vigilant all the time.

The neighbourhood is home to people from different backgrounds and income levels as there is a varying price of homes to fit the need of the higher income and lower income residents. Other established neighbourhoods in Pandan Indah include Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Taman Maluri and Pandan Jaya. It also boasts a myriad of condominiums and apartments with the most remarked upon ones now being Axis Crown and Putri Court. For mid-range earners there is Kenari Court and Grandeur Tower, and for the lower income group there is Pandan Cahaya and Merpati Apartment.

Pandan Indah provides numerous township amenities and various facilities surrounding the area such as Mid-Point Shopping Centre, Pandan Kapital, AEON Jusco, Tesco Ampang, Fiesta, 1Shamelin and Galaxy Ampang for shopping, and various restaurants, retail shops schools and clinics within easy reach. Pandan Indah is considered a prime area, as it is close to the Kuala Lumpur City Centre; as a matter of fact some of the condominiums get to enjoy the KLCC view from their homes. Korean lovers will enjoy close proximity to Little Korea which is situated in Ampang Avenue; not to be mistaken with One Ampang Avenue near Ampang Point.

Pandan Indah falls under the administration of the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ), and is strategically located with easy access to major expressways. The Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), Ampang-Hulu Klang Highway (AKLEH), Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS), plus other main roads service the area, and going to the city centre is easy with Jalan Pandan Indah, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Pandan Jaya. Moreover, the addition of BESRAYA’s Lebuhraya Sungai Besi, which stretches from Pandan Jaya to the UPM Interchange, has given a facelift to the often-travelled Jalan Pandan Indah. Hence, the public of Pandan Indah now can get to Bangsar in only 15 minutes. Cheras, Bandar Tun Razak and Kajang have also been made to such short drives to get to. And the facelift mentioned provides a faster routes to Bukit Indah, as there are now flyovers on Jalan Pandan Indah, greatly decreasing traffic congestion and road hazards. For public transportation users, the Pandan Indah LRT Station services this township directly alongside a number of Rapid KL buses.
